Markets recover from day's lows

The Sensex is now quoting at 16,758, down by 116 points and the Nifty is placed at 4,961, lower by 41 points. The Sensex had touched a low of 16,622 and the Nifty had hit 4,921 during the course of the day. - Markets extend losses - Bharti Airtel leads combined value, volume chart - Sensex down in red; RCom drops 11% - Markets off highs - Markets open in the green - Market may open on a steady note The leading Sensex gainers are Hindustan Unilever (firm by 3.7% at Rs 276), Hindalco (up by 3% at Rs 121), ITC (stronger by 2.9% at Rs 245) and Sterlite has gained 1.9% to Rs 765. Grasim and ONGC, HDFC Bank and Grasim have gained up to 1% each. The major losers on the Sensex are Bharti Airtel (shed 11% at Rs 356), Reliance Communications (slipped by 11% at Rs 267), DLF (lower by 3.9% at Rs 406) and Tata Motors (lost 3.9% to Rs 539). ACC, Jaiprakash Associates, and Sun Pharma have lost between 2 and 3 per cent each. The top Nifty gainers are Hindustan Lever (firmer by 3.7% at Rs 276), Hindalco (stronger by 3.4% at Rs 122), ITC (stronger by 3.1% at Rs 246) and Sterlite (up by 2.1% at Rs 765). The major losers on the Nifty are Bharti Airtel (down by 11% at Rs 353), Reliance Communications (lower by 10.77% at Rs 267) and Idea (weak by 10% at Rs 63)
