Markets continue to trade sideways

The markets have been virtually unchange din the past one hour. The Sensex is at 16,858, down 35 points, and the Nifty is placed at 5028, down 12 points. - Sensex flat; Tata Motors up 3% - Weakness persists in Asian markets - Markets still in red - Rupee down 5 paise at 46.93/$ - Sensex opens weak on global cues - Pre-market: Downward pressure seen Among the sectoral indices, healthcare index has added 1.5% at 5,130. Infosys is the top Sensex loser, having weakened by Rs 28 or more than 1% at Rs 2533. HDFC, ACC and Maruti have slipped nearly 1% each to Rs 2,577, Rs 860 and Rs 1541 respectively. Sterlite and Bharti are the other major losers. Tata Motors top the list of gainers on the BSE, up more than 3% at Rs 735. Wipro and Sun Pharma have advanced over 2% each to Rs 690 and Rs 1,515 respectively. Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Steel are up more than one per cent each. The market breath is strong. Out of 2753 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1527 advancing stocks as against 1118 declines.
